We are excited to announce that the grant project 'Investigating Road User's Compliance with Yellow and Clearance Time Intervals for Signal Timing Design (Phase 3)' has been awarded by LOCAL GOVT-ARIZONA. Dr. Yao-Jan Wu from Civil Arch Engr and Mechanics at the University of Arizona will lead this research.
Dr. Wu, Professor and Executive and Founding Director of Center for Applied Transportation Sciences at UA, has an impressive research background in transportation engineering, with over 100 refereed publications and 60 journal publications. This project aims to:
- Examine road user compliance with yellow and clearance time intervals at signalized intersections.
- Develop methods for optimizing signal timing designs based on user behavior.
- Improve traffic flow and safety at intersections using IT solutions.
- Collaborate with local transportation agencies to implement findings in real-world settings.
