David Velenovsky is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences at the University of Arizona. He received his MS in Audiology from Colorado State University in 1979 and practiced as a clinical audiologist for 13 years in a variety of clinical settings, consulted with school systems, industry and professional musicians before returning to earn a PhD in Speech and Hearing Sciences at the University of Arizona in 1998. He later pursued postdoctoral study in the Department of Cell Biology and Anatomy at the University of Arizona College of Medicine (later holding the position of research assistant professor), combining auditory neuroanatomical and electrophysiological approaches in an effort to determine the anatomical substrates for various functional maps in the auditory central nervous system. Dr. Velenovsky joined our department in 2008. His current research interests include tinnitus management, studying inner ear function in lizards as a way to better understand cochlear mechanics and auditory processing in individuals on the autism spectrum.
