Beth Mitchneck is a Professor Emerita in the School of Geography, Development & Environment at the University of Arizona. As a 2019-20 Visiting Scholar with the ARC Network and the Association for Women in Science, I am completing a meta synthesis of the research on how social practices influence citation indices, commonly used metrics to evaluate the quality of a scholar’s productivity. I am leading a National Science Foundation project, to develop metrics to assess institutional transformation at Hispanic-Serving Institutions. I continue to write about human displacement, violent conflict, and social networks.
