Sung Eun Jung is an Assistant Professor of Practice in the Teaching, Learning and Sociocultural Studies Department at the University of Arizona. She received her Ph. D. in Early Childhood Education from the Department of Educational Theory and Practice at the University of Georgia. As a former kindergarten teacher and a researcher, she has been interested in teaching practices allowing young children to exercise their agency and to make their voices in teaching and learning. Her expertise includes designing and implementing early childhood education programs such as theme-based integrated curriculums, project-based learning activities, and a child-care program for toddlers. As a teacher educator, she taught courses and supervised field placements for undergraduate preservice teachers of the Early Childhood Education Program at the University of Georgia. She had participated in a series of research project designing and teaching robotics education programs to 4- to 7-year-old children in a community learning center and a public elementary school where the majority of students were Latino/Latina children. She has explored early childhood robotics education as a way for regaining attention to young children’s ways of learning with materials/technology and their bodies. Also, she is interested in the potential of early childhood robotics education as the space for culturally responsive STEM teaching and learning.
