Sentinel-1 is a radar imaging satellite mission developed by the European Space Agency (ESA) as part of the Copernicus Programme. The mission consists of a constellation of two satellites, Sentinel-1A and Sentinel-1B, which provide continuous all-weather, day-and-night radar imaging of the Earth's surface. These satellites are equipped with Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) sensors, which allows them to capture high-resolution images with a wide range of applications, including monitoring the environment, managing natural disasters, and supporting humanitarian aid efforts. Sentinel-1 data is freely available to the public and is used by researchers, policymakers, and industry professionals around the world.
