Dr. Bates joined the Department of Emergency Medicine in November 2022. She is the current Associate Program Director for the Banner University Medical Center South Campus Emergency Medicine Residency Program. Dr. Bates received her medical degree from Northeast Ohio Medical University and completed her residency in Emergency Medicine at the University of Arizona South Campus. She worked for five years as a community emergency physician in San Antonio, TX and Tucson, AZ. She served for two years as Emergency Medicine Department Chair at Carondelet St. Mary’s Hospital before returning to academic emergency medicine at the University of Arizona. Her professional interests include medical education, wellness, and clinical incorporation of evidence-based medicine.
