Syndromes are a group of symptoms that consistently occur together and are indicative of a particular disease or condition. They can be genetic, acquired, or a combination of both. Some common syndromes include Down syndrome, a genetic disorder caused by the presence of an extra chromosome 21, resulting in developmental delays and characteristic physical features. Another example is Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), a common digestive disorder characterized by abdominal pain, bloating, and changes in bowel habits. Other syndromes include Marfan syndrome, a genetic disorder affecting the connective tissue and causing tall stature and abnormalities in the skeletal, cardiovascular, and ocular systems, and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), a mental health condition that can develop after experiencing a traumatic event. Each syndrome has its own unique set of symptoms and treatment options.
