In addition to his work as an adjunct lecturer at the University of Arizona, Jay Habansky AICP is currently the planning and zoning director for Stratford, Connecticut. He develops all long-range planning programs and manages land use for Stratford. Jay has comprehensive experience in municipal planning and as a domestic/international planning consultant. He is an AICP-certified planner and holds a master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning. Jay has extensive public and private experience, with a focus on land use practice/law, urban and regional planning, resiliency planning and transit-oriented development. Jay has worked for the City of Stratford and the City of Bridgeport as well as private consulting work in Connecticut, Brazil and Colombia. He also is the president of a planning consulting firm, which develops long-range planning programs, economic development initiatives, critical infrastructure, bikeedestrian networks, community resiliency, TOD, transportation and urban design. As an expert in urban planning and community redevelopment, he speaks at events as a featured presenter or panelist for a number of professionally accredited organizations. Jay is also a court-verified legal expert in planning and zoning-related matters. Jay also serves as a planning and zoning commissioner where he lives in Easton, Connecticut.
