Randall Friese, MD is a tenured professor with the University of Arizona Department of Surgery, Division of Trauma, Critical Care, Burn and Emergency Surgery. Dr. Friese is a board certified general surgeon with added qualifications is critical care. He is currently a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons as well as a Fellow of the American College of Critical Care Medicine. Dr. Friese obtained his medical degree from the University of Maryland College of Medicine in Baltimore. He completed an internshiand residency in general surgery at the University of Colorado, Denver. Following his surgical training Dr. Friese served as a general surgeon in the US Navy Medical Corstationed in Japan and Southern California. Before arriving at the University of Arizona Dr. Friese completed a fellowshiin Trauma and Critical Care at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical UTSW) Center and Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, Texas. Dr Friese also served on faculty at UTSW for seven years. While on faculty at UTSW Dr Friese obtained a master’s degree in clinical sciences. Dr. Friese joined the University of Arizona in 2008 and has established a successful trauma/ surgical critical care and elective general surgery practice. He has been named a Castle Connolly ToDoctor, in addition to receiving teaching awards from the surgical residents.
