The NEOWISE mission (Near-Earth Object Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer) is a space-based infrared telescope that was launched by NASA in 2009. Its primary purpose is to identify and characterize potentially hazardous near-Earth objects (NEOs), such as asteroids and comets, that could pose a threat to Earth. NEOWISE has also been used to study the composition and physical properties of these objects, offering valuable insights into the formation and evolution of the solar system. The mission has been successful in discovering thousands of new asteroids and comets, and continues to monitor and track their orbits to assess any potential impact risks.
